I am very excited to be a part of ArtPrize again this year. My piece will be displayed in one of the best venues of the competition – the Women’s City Club on East Fulton. During ArtPrize the club will be open to the public between 12 – 8pm Monday through Saturday and 12 – 6pm on Sunday.
This year’s window piece is titled: over in the meadow
This window is a depiction of a sacred Native American site that CB and I visited a couple of years ago. I was very interested in trompe l’oeil when I created this and other pieces. Trompe l’oeil is a French term meaning ‘trick of the eye’ and my window gives the viewer the impression that they are looking through a window or frame to the scene. Here the viewer is gazing through the trees at the edge of the woods to the meadow beyond. It is a warm, shimmering day with a cloud of dragonflies rising off the surface of the nearby pond.
